JB's Laser Blue Revo Stage 1 GTI
« on: April 22, 2013, 08:47:34 pm »
Picked this little beauty up last weekend, some of you may recognise it as got it off a forum regular down in Woking.

Spec:
- 2005 55 Plate Mk5 GTi 3 door
- Charcoal Leather Interior
- Heated front seats
- Factory SATNAV MFD2
- Factory Electric Sunroof
- 6 Disc CD built into arm-rest
- Highline display
- BBS Golf GTi Edition 30 alloys powdercoated in satin black
- Revo Stage 1

Gave it a mini detail this weekend consisting of the following:
- Vac'ed and cleaned interior
- Cleaned and treated leather
- 2 bucket method wash
- Dry
- Polished with AG SRP
- Waxed with Collinite 915
- Glass polished windows inside and out
- Treated black plastics
- Blackened tyres
- Polished tail pipes
- Cleaned all door and boot shuts and quick clean of engine bay

I also had a quick go on a couple of scratches with my orbital machine polisher which came up well so next weekend I am free and get some good weather I will have a proper go at it. Anyway the results:

Immediate plans involve the following:

Genuine BBS Speedlines 2 piece split 18" currently being refurbished bright silver

AP springs and shocks 20mm drop

MTEC grooved and dimpled discs and Mintex pads all round - I know they probably won't be much better than OEM but they looks so pretty  .

Goodridge braided brake lines

Anyone know how the AP shocks compare to OEM?

I notice a lot of people on the forum are running lowering springs with standard shocks.

Good to see Ian's old car has gone to a good home. Look forward to seeing what you do with it

In 2.5 years of having mine I've only seen 2 GTI's in the flesh and a few boggo standard golfs.

Future plans in no particular order:
- Sort out a little bit of rust
- Repair drivers seat bolster
- Paint brake calipers
- Machine polish
- Replace rear bumper as has a small crack and colour code rear valance, side skirts and front splitter.
- RDS510?
- Maybe NQSBBK but quite low down on my list.

I don't intend on going stage 2 as it already is very quick and it seems a lot of money to do it properly. You can just buy an Edition 30 which has more potential with the KO4 and uprated engine internals. Give it a few months though and you never know  .

:congrats: :congrats: Absolutely. I'd have hated it to have dissapeared into the abyss. Glad it's staying on the Forum  :happy2:

I would prefer to go lower for the look but I don't want to compromise the ride comfort too much. My girlfriend has also begged me not to lower it at all. These came up in the classifieds quite cheap and only done around 1000 miles so seemed like a good buy.

Seen a couple of pictures of cars on here and still a definite improvement over standard.

New discs, pads and brake lines now fitted.

AP springs and dampers (-20mm) also now fitted including new top mounts.

Going to wait a week for it to settle then going to get the alignment done. At the moment the left rear is slightly higher than the right, 5mm maybe so hope this settles even.

I am happy with the ride, slightly firmer than standard but not a lot and not harsh or crashy at all so I think a good compromise. :happy2:
