My friend is currently selling one, as he had the battery drain issue in his passat.
It was new when he got it, only had it in a couple of weeks.

Good buy for someone!

Bit pricey though. I paid £300 delivered for one out of a brand new car.

Its odd that the canbus thing affects some and not others, mine isnt driven for 5 days a week every week and never had a problem, one of the many quirks of the vw production i guess

Hi there

I know its been almost a year since you posted in this thread. I am looking at fitting a RCD510 in a 05 plate and would like to know whether you have experienced any difficulty since fitting yours

Thanks
G

I put an RCD510 in my '06 GTI back in June, having only bought the car in May. Everything was fine for the first week, having driven the car every day. Then, after having not driven the car on the saturday, I went out to start it on the sunday and the battery was completely dead.

I've since bought an AD version Canbus, but have not been able to find anyone to fit it and code it for me. I still use the RCD510 every day in the car, but take the radio fuse (F19) out every night to stop it draining the battery.  :happy2:

If your close to Leeds try dropping Darren (mortygttdi) a PM on here, he'll sort you out :happy2:
