Well guys, it's been over 2 years since I traded the Mk5 GT TDI in for my current beloved Scirocco, but its time to change again, and I'm heading back down the Golf path (albeit with a MK7).
Yep, the dealer made me an offer I couldn't refuse with just over £2k off list, free 3 year servicing, free GAP, free cherished plate transfer and guaranteeing the PX price on the Rocco until the Mk7 arrives.
Talking of the part ex, that's one of the reasons I traded, as he's offered me a price on trade in which equates to just over 67% retained vaue on the Rocco, not bad for a car that when I take delivery of the Golf will be two and three quarters years old.
And what have I ordered you may ask, well it's a Mk7 Golf GTD 5 door DSG !
Went a bit crazy on the options as I am planning to keep this one for 4 years at least, so:
GTD 5 Door
DSG transmission
Pure White
Discover Nav Pro
Keyless entry and start
Adaptive chassis control (ACC)
Park Assist
Lane Assist
High beam assist
Winter Pack
Rear view camera
Dynaudio sound package
Like I said, I went a bit mad with the options (but you only live once and I got an absolutely cracking deal on the Golf and the PX on the Rocco). Only options not specified we're -Leather (prefer the Jacara cloth and at £1,675.00 not worth it in my opinion). Panoramic sunroof (£900 - not my thing), 19" Alloys (£965 plus i prefer the 18" ones it comes with, plus it will be more comfortable, quieter and cheaper to replace tyres ).
As some of you may know, the spec on the new GTI and GTD is pretty generous with standard equipment including - front collision avoidance, city emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, Bi Xenon headlights with static cornering lights, folding mirrors with passenger auto dip, 18" Alloys, LED front fog lights, LED taillights, XDS differential, colour DIS screen, Multi function steering wheel, 7 air bags, auto lights and wipers etc. all in all, a pretty good standard spec.
Won't get it until about July / August, so may hang out for the 63 plates change over (even though its on a private plate). I absolutely love the Rocco and its been 100% faultlessly reliable, and I will be very sad to see it go, and I just hope the GTD lives up to the billing, as obviously I've ordered it blind (as its not actually in dealers until June at the earliest), but I've now driven a couple of MK7 Golf 2.0 TDI GT's and they were really classy with a beautiful drive.
Just a waiting game name and time I guess to find a new forum once the Rocco goes
