Love it, looks so planted.

And the car in that video is my ideal spec, 5 door manual in Tornado Red with the Performance Pack.

I really am getting turned on to the MK7 GTI, just seems to offer everything I want from a car.

Really love it. To say im excited about the next Edition model is an understatement. Also very excited to see what VW can do with the new Golf R, although i fear it will never be at my price point.

I bet without the Electronic aids it's no better than a Mk5/Mk6.

Just like without a turbo it's no quicker than a 2.0 FSI ?   :stupid:

Thats a totally different argument, I'm comparing mk5, mk6, mk7 GTIs, all with 2.0 4 cylinder Turbo units.
The eLSD is not standard.  I was more targeting the discussion towards the chassis, brakes, suspension as standard through the series...and how they compare.

A convincing review by someone whose opinions I respect.

However, add the costs of DSG, eLSD, Performance Pack, sunroof, and it really tots up!

It seems much better than the Mk6 GTI (which I have driven and don't like) but I'm not in love with the Mk7 looks and with the Mk5 GTI it really was love at first sight. It's beginning to look more and more like a bland Audi A3. I really dislike the blingy interior but that's just my different taste (or lack of it if you think otherwise).

The only way to make a proper judgement is to test drive a car yourself. Someone else's review can only be a guide.

I had a good look around a Mk7 GT at my VW dealer's the other day. Was fully loaded with DSG, leather seats, sunroof, and was a champagne-silver colour which showed off the body sculpting very well.

My impression was high quality throughout. However, I really do dislike all the many silver bits of trim inside that the current market wants as it's perceived as 'luxury'.

The wheels were over fussy and frankly horrible! VW are still using the diamond-cut finish which is so prone to white worm corrosion  :stupid:
