Whoops, broken brake pad wear connector

I was swapping front discs and pads today. When I tried to unclip the connector for the wear indicator I gave it a small tug as I held the tab on the downstream side of the connector. As the connector slid apart, the upstream connector broke at the point where its held in a bracket attached to the strut.

Its no big deal, and I guess mainly due to me, but also old brittle plastic. Is it possible to get a repair unit so the upstream connector works as it should. I've taped it at the mo, but that's not ideal.

They do sell repair kits as I did this a couple of years ago. You have to cut the old one off and splice it into the existing loom. All the wires are colour coded so it is easy to do.

Or you could just connect the 2 wires togeather and that will take off the brake light on the dash, I think there quite pointless anyway as you know when your brakes need changing and even if your not mechanically minded mthe mot man will point it out anyway

Exactly what i done. Just look through the wheels at your pads to see what you got left.

I have already sussed the connecting 2 wires together, but as I'm particularly fussy about my Ed30 I'd like to do a proper repair. It comes with years of racing and prepping single seater race cars etc.

Once you start doing 'fixes' then it can lead to a slippery slope of bodges. Before you know it you have a regular shed.

is this from the main dealer? and can you remember how much it was

The part number is 1K0927903B and the harness cost me £24.36 in January 2012.

Before you know it you have a regular shed.

Mine's a shed and that's without any bodges!

I've got one bodge, I couldn't get the disc reataining screw off the OSR disc, so after drilling it, it's stuck in the hub I know have a floating disc... makes no difference other than being a pain when it comes to change wheels etc. plus I know it's there, which is annoying me, lol.

Drill the centre out and get an extractor on it. It should come out easy enough.

I actually bought an extractor kit to do just that, but probably lack of knowledge couldn't get it to work.  I busted a number of drill bits getting the disc off... should've given it to the garage to feck up

I'll give it another go, when I get some more (harder) drill bits.
