Hi,

New on here so bear with...

I wanted to poll advice on upghrades, I have an 06' plate GTI ( was a family run around but deciced to keep as love it so much) and I want to upgrade the wheels. I am not a huge fan of the Monzas and really like the look of the BBS's on the edition 30 ( cz??)

The current whells are 17"  and I want to upgrade to 18's as I think will look better, but I did not want to make the ride to harsh - big difference or not?

I am also looking at chaning the suspension set up, I have been advised against just changing the springs as my car has done 85k (although you wouldn't know it) and the standard shocks would be likely to fail?

IIRC one of the traders on here is selling new BBS VZ (like the OE edition30 wheel) for 600ish new?

I also posted up a link a few days ago to a german site selling new 18" Ronal R46 for less than 400 quid for a set of 4 new.

No experience of apex kits, but for spring/shock kit the bilstein b12 gets great reviews.

First off, welcome on board! 

IMO the 18" wheels are fine for ride comfort etc, I've had nothing else for years.

The Edition 30 wheels are made by BBS for VW and are called Pescara's. Very VERY similar to the BBS CH's, they are 18"x7.5" ET51. If you want a slightly better stance and better clearance if your getting a BBK then look at the BBS VZ's (as mentioned) as they are 18"x8" ET44, so loads more room inside the wheel. I have the BBS VZ's 18"x8" ET44 in Hyper Silver.....





The Carbonio and papal filter is a lot for what it is, you'd be better off with an EVOMS CAI or Neuspeed CAI for a similar price or a Forge Twintake, ITG system, REVO or APR/VWR cold air intakes. All good, range from £200-£450. Google these kits to see what's what.

^^^^ I doubt you'd get any problems at all running any 18" wheels (up to 8" width) regarding rubbing or clearance with the Bilstein B12 kit fitted.

When I say "clearance issues" when running 7.5" width I was referring to clearance on the inside of the wheel if you go for a BBK (Big Brake Kit).
