And the Cayenne V6 is a VW powered unit, similar to the R units. So not a true V6 either.

Read it before; says its a 6 cylinder engine in a Vee shape, or a V6 as they are commonly known?

So as i said

The VR6 isnt a true V6. Its barely even a V at all. Developed to fit into a hatchback sized car, instead of requiring more engine bay.

A V6 has 2 banks of 3 cylinders with 2 cylinder heads. A VR6 has i bank of 6 cylinders and 1 cylinder head.

Read the Wiki article, explains it better tbh.

The original Cayenne V6 Engine was the VR6 3.6 lump, but they have now changed it to the 3.0 V6 engine from the touareg, which is a 90 degree V6.  But they are both V6's even if the VR6 lump is a narrow angle - 15% I believe.  The only difference being the VR6 has a single cylinder head - very clever desgn to be fair.

1) You cannot make a 4-pot sound like a 6-cyl, FAIL
2) Porsche engines are not V6s, they are flat-six engines and have been since the war, FAIL
3) The VR6 - with, as Oli points out, a 15* v-angle - is more like an inline six than a true V6 with a 90* v-angle. This allows for a very compact 6-cylinder where a traditional inline 6 or V6 would not fit. The firing order is also more akin to an inline six than a V6. As such it is incorrect to consider the VR6 as a true "V" - more as a subset of "inline" 6. Volkswagen AG does have traditional V6 engines amongst its lineup though; the 3.6 V6 is a proper V engine as I recall. So, somewhat less, but still FAIL
4) I think we've covered everything.

Nice one mate. So it is a V6, just not a fully fledged one  :signLOL:

It is more correct to regard it as an inline engine for the reasons I've stated above, and will reiterate - narrow gap between the cylinders is effectively a staggered inline, and the firing order is more similar to an inline, and it is not inherently unbalanced like a 90* V6; it is not a true V6 and it is more incorrect to regard it as such.

Very Cherry, that's not butter popcorn is it? I could do with some.

Not disagreeing with, it is still a V6 though, just not a 'proper' V6  :happy2:
