Mk7 GTD vs 118d M Sport

My work has just started to offer a company car scheme from the end of this year. This will include everything including insurance no deposit so effectively only other cost is fuel. They have a small list of cars available and the most interesting I can see are either the new Mk7 GTD or 118d M Sport both would cost £415 p/m all in. I worked out including depreciation my mk5 Gti is costing up to £400 p/m.

So my questions are, does this sound a reasonable scheme vs sorting a pcp myself and has anyone gone from a mk5 Gti to 1 series diesel M Sport, how did they find it?

I know it's not pretty but its those or my other left field option is a daily Polo bluemotion for £260 p/m and get a mk1 Gti for fun

Make sure you look at the manufacturers finance deals. VW were listing the MK7 GTD as being £209 per month (over 36 months) but you need a £7k deposit, so the monthly cost over 3 years is effectively £405. Obviously your deal includes insurance so that's a decent bonus depending on how old you are.

I'd personally prefer to finance a car with an ownership option at the end of the term, but that's just me.

Fook me, I pay less than that for my M135i with only 2.5k down.

I suppose with servicing and insurance it's alright, assuming you are doing big miles, but what I will say is I had a 118d msport courtesy car last year and wow it was bad, horrible lag and very slow, I would take the gtd all day long although I haven't driven one but it can't be any worse than the 118d and looks better IMO

The one series will be a better drivers car. If you can live with the looks....

In saying that, the mk7 isn't exactly a looker either.

I had a one series coupe 120d m sport before the ed30, and I have to say, overall, the BMW was a better drive. The ed30 makes up for that in power tho.

Nah because I work for British gas and we have just had a new scheme come in this month about car leasing thought it may have been the same. I havnt looked at the deals on mine yet though was toying with the idea

Sadly m135i isn't on the list but you must have got a good deal as standard car and pcp price is 420p/m with a 5k deposit effectively adding a further 140p/m.

You can get at least 10% off list, and APR was 4.9% (diesels were 3.9%). Granted I got in before the price hike and I only do 8k p/a... But why pay for your mileage up front, and add interest to it? Madness.

118d? I'm not a fan of the BMW 4 pot diesels, I think the Golf may be the better all-rounder. Best getting an extended drive and seeing which you prefer?
