help! suspension. .

So I want to book my car in for rust on the front arches but my car is pretty low so decided to raise it up 3 threads this morning.

Took ages on one side with a hammer the d-spanner thing and loads of wd40. Knocking it on way then the other slowly it moved.

Came to do the drivers side and it wont budge at all.  Doesn't move a mm. Used loads of wd40.

Any ideas?

Persistance, I found luckily one side of my coilovers was very stiff, but still moved and the other moved a lot easier. WD40 needs time to work so maybe keep spraying try tomorrow? Or even after a few hours  :smiley:

WD40 is a water displacer not a penetrating fluid. You would be better off with something like Plusgas.

May work after a couple of hours but would be best left over night. Give it a good soaking.

Wouldn't be able to get at it otherwise....or do you mean both sides? I had both sides up day 1 but not today....does it make a difference.

 :sad1: day 3 failure 3. Used a whole can of plusgas and broke a c spanner!

So would getting a spring compressor help? If I could fit it to the spring while the strut is still in my arch maybe releasing some pressure might help...

This may sound like a kick in the teeth. But by the ammount of trouble your having. I suggest removing the strut completly & unseizing the things on a workbench. Sounds like they are seized to me!  :ashamed:

have you slackened the allen headed grub screw used to secure the collar from turning?
