3 previous owners

Hi

I've seen a golf gti on a 08 reg with 3 previous owners. do you think that's too many for how old it is, could the car be a one to avoid? or I'm I just being daft. It has full service history ect also the reg is EO08UJW if anyone is familiar with the car if anyone on here or knew anyone who has had it in the past.

Generally agree, I've had a car that had one previous owner for 4 years and it turned out to be a lemon, then the car I replaced it with had 4 owners in 6 years and it didn't miss a beat in the 2 years I had it.

Condition of the vehicle is much more important, service history is a must but IMO it needs to be 'verifiable', when I bought my golf a few months back it had full history, a mix of main dealer to start and then a local VW specialist, had a lot of receipts so obviously had no expense spared, but I still phoned the garage and asked them to verify the records and get their input

Loads of cars go through fleets / hire car companies / are pre-registered, etc. All these will result in one owner being clocked up very quickly, so to be on the third owner after 4 or 5 years doesn't seem much of an issue to me.

Should be fine, no biggy with 3 previous owners (we've had Eddy's on here being advertised with 10 previous owners!  )

Is this car a private sale or on a forecourt/Internet? If the second, chuck up a linky for us to have a look at.

Never really given much notice to how many owners a car has had before, as long as the car is in good condition and has been looked after then that is more important i think than how many owners its had 

Although my track record with buying cars isn't great, too often let my heart rule my head

Bought my 05 plate which had 5 previous owners.  Wasn't too bothered as the car had clearly been well looked after, never missing a service and the condition was fantastic.

Turned out 2 of them previous owners were members on here!

Agree with the above comments. Mine had 3 previous owners. The condition was great and had a FSH so went for it. Not had any issues in the 2 years of ownership now (touch wood).

Thanks for the input guys   maybes I was reading to much into it, I just though I'd check with you guys as you said service history and how it drives are the important things.

I rang vw up today to check the service history and the last one they did was about 17months ago, then I rang the garage who is selling the car and they said they have just serviced it (yeah sure) then I asked why they have it advised as full VW service history when it can't be if they have serviced it to which he put the phone down. Even if they have serviced it the long 17ish months without a service isn't good and put me off, that's not to mention hanging up on me  So no they can keep there car and my long search continues

My car has had a few previous owners, but I think that is the way with certain types of cars, doesn't always mean it's a bad thing. I bought it off the forum and the previous owner to that was on here too.

Condition and history means more.

My mate bought a Corsa for his son when he had a provisional, registered it in his lads name once he passed his test, now he's moving on to a new car it is going to his mum - so that's three registered owners in the same family within a year!

Idiot. He's immediately lost any chance of a sale. He should've just admitted the error, apologised and got on with trying to sell you the car, with a little extra discount because of their mistake.

I wouldn't worry about how many owners the car's had - when I bought mine it had 3 owners in the first 3 months of it's life as it was pre-registered by the dealership when it was brand new, then the first owner bought it, then the first owner put a private plate on = 3 owners!!

As someone has already said, hire companies, pre-registration, etc all counts as one owner so they easily rack up!!
