MTC Motorsport induction kit
« on: May 03, 2013, 11:28:01 pm »
Hi guys,

I tried a search on here but couldn't find anything on this kit so thought I would post this up...

Unfortunately it is too late for me as I have just purchased a bsh truseal kit but I was surfing ebay, as you do, for car parts.

Came across this...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MTC-MOTORSPORT-INDUCTION-KIT-BLUE-GOLF-R-EDITION-30-SCIROCCO-S3-LEON-CUPRA-K04-/251270543763?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D7406040837924622451%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D251270543763%26

MTC Motorsport induction kit, comes in a few colours and is at a very reasonable price I think, only downside is it doesn't come with a filter but the seller will get you one for extra cost.

Thought you all might be interested.... Well those without induction kits as an alternative to the various other kits out there.

Been looking at one of these myself for my Edition30,look's very well built and made from good quality materials.Wonder if an ITG enclosed front filter will fit?

It does look like a good kit.
Almost the same a ITG but not paying for the name.

I think the enclosed filter would work, but you would have to purchase a piece of custom silicone to connect it up.

Won't these thin stainless sections turn this into a hot air intake?

Not really as the air will pass through very quickly. If you were worried you can coat them in ceramic or thermal paint to stop heat soak. But given the reduction in price over the ITG id opt for this one over other intakes.

There is no filter included with that kit so there is another cost to be applied.

Also bear in mind:

Is the MAF housing the correct size?  If its not as close to stock as possible its not good as the car has to permanently adapt the fuel trims as its getting different volumes of air to what its measuring on the MAF sensor.

Is it as well made?  First glance it looks like there is no heatshield between the MAF and the manifold which is pretty much right below it, that also means there is no support for it behind the engine either.  As well as that, have the inner sections of the silicone tubing been stepped like on the ITG to ensure air flow is not disturbed and made turbulent?

What Filter will you use?  Theres is no point in putting a crap filter on, so you will need to pay for something fairly large and fairly decent to make the whole thing worthwhile.

Fuel trims on this kit are not great.  Measured them the other day on a Scirocco R.  Around 6%.  Revo/ITG kits are around 1% max.

The whole kit is cheap and it shows unfortunately.
