Rear end knocking
« on: April 23, 2013, 07:32:40 am »
Hey guys ive got an 05 gti lowered with fk coilovers on 18inch 3sdm wheels. Had this set up for roughly a year. In the past few months the car has developed an annoying knocking over bumps. Its not overly loud but i can tell its there. I changed the anti roll bar links and trailing arm bushes ( pain in the arse) last weekend but the noise is still there. The back end also feels a little twitchy over uneven ground. Any ideas what it could be? (Its not the parcel shelf rubbers! As ive driven with the shelf out :)

Have you checked to see if the rear shocks havent gone? I had the same problem and thats what it was. FK street coilovers always have this problem. Hope that helps you out!

It will be the rear shocks I had the the same problem and tried two sets of fk shocks then just used my old oem shocks and that sorted the problem mate

Could just be the drop links, this was my problem with rear end knocking noise over bumps.
Hope this helps

Had same problem mate changed drop links and anti roll bar still was doing it so swapped the shocks back to the standard ones and it's been fine and mines been fine lowered on standard shocks.

Swapped back to the original gti shocks, knocking noise is gone and it seems to ride better on the fk springs. I wont be buying fk again thats for sure
