I got incredibly P-ed off with the dealer in Birmingham yesterday (Johnson's)?

Booked in for 70,000 mile service.

Do you want a minor service (10k, 30k, 50k, 70k etc) or a 70k service? Should have asked what the difference is but have a cold at the mo and no patience!

I also asked if they could confirm rough idle. I have logged with vag-com which is showing miss-fires on cylinder 2 at idle. Pretty much done the job for them. I was quoted £140 to investigate.

Just before I got to speak to the service department (1 person on the phone) I got a quote for a new injector. £145 + £12-ish seal.
What is the point in getting them to confirm the issue when I could just buy the part, fit it myself and only spend an extra £15 or so?
I'm pretty sure they charge an extra £400 on top of the investigation to supply and fit. Might as well buy a new engine rather than get this one fixed and serviced!!!  :stupid:

Sorry for the rant. Now where's that lemsip.

RE: work not done properly:

2 connectors for coil packs broken - Only ever been removed by Listers VW Nuneaton since I bought the car at 1 year old!
Had to replace one of the rubber engine cover mounts as Listers VW split one but easier to buy a new one than argue the case.
They did however replace the oil cap FOC after the top popped off!

Dealers are an absolute menace generally speaking and once your warranty is over you should get shot, but it still pays to be careful even with Indies. case in point, i had an indie try and charge £66 inc vat quid for a rev D recirc valve and an hours labour (57 quid inc vat) whilst the car was already up in the air for a DSG fluid change.... thats 123 quid for 3 bolts :stupid:
When it comes to discs and pad changes, if you aint feeling brave yourself, buy the bits from a TPS or eurocarparts and take them to a respectable indie.

sorry for the first post being here, ive been lurking for a bit but my experience yesterday made me want to put something up! :fighting2:
