Painted VW badges
« on: August 02, 2009, 09:58:52 am »
Am I right in thinking a few people on here have painted the silver VW badges on the front and rear using a special primer/paint for plastics?

I've had a quick look on the tinternet and there's nothing that jumps out at me so thought someone on here might be able to help. If this is possible will the chrome finish still need sanding off or will a primer cover it sufficiently?

Cheeeeeeeeeeeers.

Done a bit of digging and found a paint on Amazon called Krylon Spray Paint, Satin Black 12 oz and its under a fiver. Might order it and give it a go but if anyone has any experience/advice on this let me know. Out of curiosity does anyone know how much a new VW badge is?

I have ordered exactly the same, waiting for it now.  The rear one I will just take off and get my paintshop to do it in matt black.

On my first MKV GTI I painted the front one(or my paintshop did) and I found it chipped quite easily.

I looked at the one from Dubstop and it looks spot on. I just wanted the front and rear to match each other so thought the best way would be to spray them myself? Does anyone know of a place that sells a matching front/rear badge that s black/carbon?
