Deer oh dear.....
« on: May 09, 2013, 09:43:13 am »

I'm insured with Greenlight/highway, my policy excess is £300, so depending on what price he comes back with today, it would prob be worth going through insurance, got a feeling my body shop will be saying £400+, he's a family friend so i'd expect him to be honest/ fair with the price.

Has anyone had a dealings with Greenlight/highway regarding claims of this nature? all fine and dandy reagarding getting it sorted?

What happened to the deer? Kill it? if so you should have fired it in the boot (I know this isn't strictly legal before someone points this out lol) and got it to a butcher, might have made a bit of a dent (pardon the pun) in the repair bill..... :happy2:

A few people have said that ...when i smacked into it the old deer was shunted back into the wilderness, wouldnt be supprised if it was killed there and then or shortley after, wasn't a nice feeling.

Luck it wasnt head on and take out the entire front end.

Easy job to DIY that, grab a wing painted to code from fleabay (£100) and archliner (£20), the bumper is probably out of sorts because of the wing and liner deformation.

If you don't want to DIY, I'd spend a bit more than your excess, say £100 to not get the insurance company involved.

I live in Thetford forest and feel your pain... I've lost many a straight body panel or headlight due to the fluffy-tailed lovelies  :driver:

^^^^

As above, try a VW dealer, they are not always as expensive as you think.

I bought the same part for my mum's 54 plate polo when my sister pulled the front bumper off, reversing off a high kerb.
Was £5 something!!!

It just takes a call, if you don't like the price; don't buy it & find it elsewhere.

Good luck, hope you get it sorted without too much expense.

You were lucky!!

I've hit 5 deer during my 16 years driving. Worst was in the Fabia - doing 60(ish) - at dusk.
Lots of damage - came to just over £850

I paid for it myself due to the excess being £250 & would go down as an own fault accident losing me my full ncd.
