New car, what should I go for?
« on: May 08, 2013, 07:18:33 am »
The time is rapidly nearing where the Gti will be leaving us so I'm starting to think what is going to replace it.
Sadly it's going to have to be a diesel and with a 1yr old and a dog have a fairly big boot, I'm hoping to have around an £8k budget and have narrowed it down to the 3 above. All in my mind great cars but each one also with it's down sides -

A4 - compared to the golf looks a bit dated inside now, but looks the nuts from the outside but they are pricey.
Passat - Just a bit understated (boring) but great interior, real chance of picking up a bargain though.
Octavia - cant really fault it too much other than a bit of a lack of toys and worried about depreciation.

So what do you think? thoughts appreciated and if anyone's got another car to throw in the mix please do!!!
Laser Blue 3dr No 209683, Leather, Monza II's and a few other goodies...........GONE but not forgotten......now in an A4 S-Line Avant 170tdi......god I miss the Gti.

I'm biased but I'd go for the Audi, but I've got one - which may be up for sale in the next month, comes in on budget :happy2:

Gone - Candy White MK5 Golf GTI (you never really forget your first true love...!)
MK7 Candy White GTI pp - you can never have enough eye candy

With a family and a dog the A4 and the passat would be useless unless u go for an estate as they are both saloon's

Personally for a family sized hatchback i think the Octavia Vrs wins hands down
The diesals seem to be holding sensible money too

Octavia Estate is a good choice - how much is a new shape Superb Estate TDI though? Bloody lovely they are.
