Mk5 gti blue smoke
« on: May 11, 2013, 10:01:35 am »
Just looking a little advice, my car was in my garage and had not been driven for about 6weeks and I took it out for a drive the other night and on boost there is a puff of blue smoke out the back. So my question is are the k03 turbos prone to blowing the turbo seals and if the turbo seals are gone what's the best route to go down (k04)
Am i going so fast or is the world going so slow

Blue smoke is oil, so could be a faulty PCV (best case), turbo seals or piston rings.

A blow through test of the PCV is worth doing, followed by a compression test to test the bore.

What is your mileage? Is your car using a lot of oil?

You can take the PCV off and try to blow through it both ways. If it's ok, should only be able to blow through it one way.
