1st experiance driving mk5 gti
« on: May 11, 2013, 07:54:07 pm »
I've been wanting a mk5 gti since I was 17 in 2007, with only passing my test February 2013 i thought I'd give it a year or so, I bought a 2009 volvo c30 r design 1.6 petrol which only has 130 ish bhp, I took my uncles 2008 5 door manual gti for a 60 mile round trip today, I can honestly say it blew me away, his is running stage 2 at around 265bhp I think...
Couple of county roads today, used a bit of a heavy foot, the smile on my face was epic, the feeling of being pushed back into the seat is immense..

I am very jealous of all you guys with a mk5 gti,

Wish I had the cash to get one, only option I have would be a straight swap for my volvo..
Just thought id share with you all haha  :driver:

If you trade up, straight swop and have some change for insurance, then do it!

It's just finding the right gti, with decent mileage, condition ect.. Plus my volvo is only worth around 6500 trade, as the depreciation is ridiculous.

Good advice above. Volvo will depreciate and your best doing it now. Hope you get yourself into one soon  :happy2:

Have you thoroughly checked the for sale section on here?

Although youre probably looking at a higher mileage one, chances are it wil have been well looked after

I have yeah, I am looking for low mileage or as low as poss as I do a lot of driving, easily 25k a year..
So would like to have it at least a year before it reaches the 100k mark

ahh well you might be able to get one for abour 7-7.5k with a decent mileage but not a great spec. However you can retrofit alot of things over time  :happy2:

I'm going to view a 2007 07 5 door, black, 70,650, standard cloth trim, it does have multifunction steering wheel, full service history, £7250.. Only problem is it has cigarette burns above the drivers side door in the headliner.

Classy. Find one that's been better looked after and that won't stink of fags.

That's the thing, if it doesn't smell of fags, I would happily pay for the roof lining retrim if everything else is cool,
I don't think I'll get a car of that age and mileage for £7250 anywhere.
