CH Reps
« on: May 13, 2013, 11:02:23 am »
Hi all,

I have decided after many months on what wheels to get, but they seem to have sold out on the highly regarded BMautosport website.

Does anyone know from experience any other sellers of decent CH reps. in Black with the polished lip.

Would really apprieciate someone pointing me in the right direction!!

also can i just straight swap my tyres from my Genuine Monza 2's?

Thanks for your help,

Sam.

Don't buy reps at all . Find some genuine ones , they are your only connection to the road and control where the car goes . Too many fake/copy parts about that even finding genuine parts is difficult secondhand  :innocent:

dunno whether i entirely agree with this.

Would you rather have a brand new copy, or a genuine rim that could have had trauma at some point in its life? :sad1:

I think you'll find that loads of people have absolutely no issues with reps, like anything do your research and get ones from a reputable company and there should be no issues at all.

Im one of them... Had Reps on my 150 GTI diesel for 7 years, Got Reps on now as well. Much rather have a brand new set as you don't know what has been done to a wheel that has had a full refurb it could of been cracked and welded up or anything.... Better to have Reps with good rubber than "genuine" with ditch finders on.

I had mine off an ebay seller, I will see if I can find the link out for you.

Replicas come in all qualities , having investigated accidents for 30 years i know which ones i would choose . You can get 4 BBS copies for around £50 (Far east) from several sources which Trading standads are aware of . Do you think a trader would rather sell a set where they can make 100% profit plus or another set where they might make 20% ?

I can only go by what I have had personally and have never had any problems ... Trouble is our roads are now in such a state that even genuine wheels suffer cracks.... Look at the BMW wheels.... sh*t loads of them things breaking but thats ok because they are genuine so no one blames the wheel, find a crack in a Rep and everyone jumps on them saying they are crap.
You are obviously an ex Rozza and have probably seen many collisions etc but have you ever been able to say that it was a Rep wheel that caused it... Maybe a damaged tyre but I have never seen a wheel just break, unless it was on impact of a curb or pothole . Maybe I am wrong and people have had these problems with reps .... Anyone ?

Surely there's just as big a risk when buying any after market alloy wheel (eg not OEM) that you may come across poor quality ones, your not going to tell me that a set of Halfrauds wonders as as good as a set of OZ, but as said above there are some very good quality replica wheels (Italian ones spring to mind) just be careful what you buy.
