fitting armrest in golf gti
« on: May 13, 2013, 02:18:23 pm »
After buying this car i though it wouldn't matter to much as it wasn't in my essential criteria when buying.

over time the thought of having an armrest has grown on me and now i hate having to drive without one.

I did try to buy one of those ebay armrests for one designed for golf mk5 but I have just seen that the armrest itself is placed to far up so its almost pushing your shoulder up rather than resting it.

I'm now looking at the official oem armrest like the one on this link

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MK5-Golf-Anthracite-Cloth-Armrest-Fitting-Kit-GTI-R32-S-SE-MATCH-VW-/400422303013?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AVW%7CModel%3AGolf%7CPlat_Gen%3AMK+V&hash=item5d3b077525

after countless google searches i cannot seem to find a link for an actual fitting guide. A lot of then have involved people PMing each other rather than posting it. can

anyone tell me if the one posted on the link will be ok to fit? ( in not bothered about cd changer/aux or air ducts)?
How long will it take?
Is it easy?
Does anyone have any guides?

Many thanks in advance

Ive recently fitted one to mine ...don't forget to buy a air duct ..there should be one in armrest and one to link it to under ashtray it is easy to fit took me a couple of hrs as I found it fiddly to get centre consol past handbrake but it does come off ...I also bought some new screws just in case I needed any ...only pence from vw ...now in all working

That's what you need plus front air channel

Thanks for the PM Brookes32 I'll pm you after this message.

Personally I'm not to worried about having full use of the air vents if its not to tricky I don't mind doing it but will i still need the air ducts if im not going to use the vents?

No you don't need it under the dash is just blanked off

You can see the two blanked off pipes .but armrest will just go together without
