My brother had a 2.2 and his friend had one to. They both crashed  :signLOL: and its not a pretty sight when fibreglass hits a solid wall. It wasnt the fastest thing in the world but it handled brilliant. I would recommend if you can find one that hasn't be crashed, taking to a company down south who does all the geometry on them ( not sure what they are called now as this was 5 years ago ) but it transformed the car with how it drove.

Anyone owned a 3.0L Z4?
Having suggested one on the first page has me looking at them now... can get them for £5-£6k with not too many miles - nice summer motor.
Seems like all the big engine motors have really dropped in price, with most ppl worried about fuel consumption figures.

It depends how much you like driving. If you get into your car just for a drive on a regular basis then then it might suit. If you use it as a daily it will become a chore. You have to love them and what they are about to cope with them day to day.
I nearly bought one many moons ago when they first came out as I loved the look of them.
If you get one make sure you give it full respect when pushing on or it will bite.

I look at the Z4 before i bought my ED30, defianately a great performance car option.

The thing i found that was off putting was the convertable suffers major problems with the roof motor. The motor sits in the water channels and isn't a water tight sealed unit, this obviously leads to it degrading and a new replacement fitted is at a cost of anywhere between £1000-£1500.

I would therefore recommend you get the coupe version of the car.

More helpful posts, thanks all  :notworthy:

I'm not exactly sure of my height but i know i'm just under 6ft. Have spend the day thinking of other cars that i'd be happy with. S2k's are on the list now as the buying price would make the insurance cost hurt less.

I then had the thought of a Porsche 944 but not sure how reliable it'd be as an everyday car as obviously they're getting on a bit now.

Not sure if you can get an 's' model in your price range but I would be looking at Boxsters, awesome chassis :happy2:

Another great call....

Z4 is a great car, but budget suspension and non-runflats. OE is bollocks.
Sideways yo!

Funnily enough i've just been looking at these. And yes, the 's' does come into my price range. Insurance is quite a lot though. What are peoples thoughts on the 2.7 version? Insurance isn't far off the gti's and it's still got 220bhp to play with

A friend of mine had one, an entry level 2.7 and I have to admit until I had driven it i had focused on the relatively low power.

But that's not the full story, get behind the wheel and its every bit a real Porsche and the drive and involvement is spectacular, have one on the radar for when we change the Golf in a few years.

Love that... The rear spoiler looks far to big even though its for use and not show.
