Alarm trouble

Only owned the car for around 2 months but there seems to be a problem with the alarm and just wondering if anyone has had the same issue.

It will just go off for no reason what so ever, sometimes as soon as a few seconds after i have locked it or as lond as a good few hours. Stops going off as soon as i have pressed the unlock button on the fob. It can go days or even weeks without going off.

Its not really a massive problem but is quite embarrasing at times and i'm pretty sure i've just woken half the street because of it 

I also don't have VCDS to plug into the car to check it. Any help is appreciated

Sounds like a faulty alarm siren, mine did the same and it had to be changed. Fairly easy job though, it's located under the drivers side wheel arch liner, hardest bit is getting the rivets drilled out on the steel cover. After that it's just a case of swapping them over.
Don't buy new from the dealer, plenty on ebay 2nd hand from about £20 or even new ones from £35-£40

By the way, it may not show up any fault codes on a VCDS scan but can still be faulty.
The internal batteries corrode and eat into the circuit board, that's why they tend to fail

If it does show a fault on the scan it will say faulty siren H12. Or something along them lines

get a scan done before you buy a new horn, also check to see what the trigger was

Yes will do, think i may have found someone who has vagcom that can scan it for me

My alarm did this annoying neighbours in middle of the night! Mine was also the siren. When I opened it up found that it has its own internal pcb rechargeable battery which had leaked over the circuit board and corroded everything. Worth vcds scan thought as previous said might be a sensor.

Turns out its the door lock module that is playing up, its also damp which suggests a leak. Not sure where the leak could come from, the windscreen is a non genuine VW item though apparently so maybe from there.

Add in having rear wheel bearings that need replacing and my locking wheel nuts are done up so tightly that they need drilling out its turning into a very expensive month 

Feel like getting it all fixed and just selling the car, definately quickly falling out of love with it
