Tools for DV
« on: May 17, 2013, 08:10:50 pm »
I've just purchased a rev G diverter valve, I was thinking of getting a garage to fit it but after a bit of research I've found out that its a fairly easy job with a jack.

What I need to know is what are the 3 bolts which hold the DV in place are they a Hex/star key or Allen keys, if they are Hex/star key I'm going to need to buy some?

Thanks I'm hoping to get it fitted tomorrow :happy2:

Forgot to say I have a 2008 KO3 GTI.

Pretty sure they are allen headed bolts mate, if you can be bothered, take the arch liner out, makes access to the top bolt loads easier.  Assuming your K03, as K04 is so easy my Nan could do it.
Always use an axle stand, just in case buddy. :happy2:

I read they could be 5mm Allen key but then I read something else elsewhere. I'll jack her up first then if the top bolt be being a pain I'll take out in inner arch previously found to be a pain on other cars.

The arch lining is easy, just a bit of a faff, removing all the screws, there are two sections to the arch liner, and you'll have to remove a couple of screws from the splash guard too... but just keep a pot handy so they don't do walk about and you're golden. :happy2:

I take it you would obviously remove the wheel first.

Am I right in thinking you can get to it from the drivers side easiest?

I'll get myself some Locktight and a 5mm Allen key end to fit a 1/4 inch socket which I have and then I'm away  :driver: :jumpmove:

Removing the wheel would be handy  Yes, Drivers side for sure.  Once you've got that top bolt loosened, it's all good. :happy2:

Replaced my version D recently too, initially I thought it didn't make much difference, but it 'seems' to have a bit more low down grunt now... will have to do a VCDS dyno to compare. :fighting2:

They definitely are 5mm allen key bits. Mine were super tight so were quite difficult to get off.

Changing the thing is very easy :) - well once the bolts are off  :signLOL:

All changed and pretty straight forward just a bit fiddely.

Only thing is it had a Rev G fitted already and the rubber was fine, only thing was the blue rubber part was discoloured green but I fitted the new one anyway not sure if it feels any different.

Did VW fit rev g to 08 GTIs from new?x
