Lowering
« on: May 17, 2013, 08:34:38 pm »
Right,

I'm new/ish to the tuning/modding side of golfs, but not to golfs themselves.

The furthest I've one before is to have a Milltek fitted to my old MK 4 GTI.

I've had a remap on the current golf, looking for a new exhaust too.

Next question, I'd like her to be sat a little lower than she is currently. it's standard at the moment.

I'm not sure how low to go, but not stupidly as there are pesky speedhumps all over round here.

Few tips and prices etc would be great, as you guys are really helpful!!

H&R 30mm Springs IMHO, part number 29176-1

About £190 for the springs, £75+ for 4 wheel alignment and whatever your local garage changes for fitting (or free if you do it yourself).

Springs from Graeme at GNJ_Motorsport on this forum or from their website...

H&R springs are very good.

When I ran my AP springs (25mm drop) they were fine, but I couldn't help but think I wanted just a slighty lower drop, where of course you haven't got adjustability.

I'd certainly consider a used set of coilovers (AP's, for example) which although a couple of hundred or so more expensive, will offer a mildly finer town ride and means you can adjust the height to exactly what you need  :happy2:
