Ah balls, cost? Car's not under warranty.

Buy a warranty from someone like Warranty Direct, wait a few months, then claim for it.

Until then, open your windows!!  :happy2:

Guy at IVS (an independent VW specialist) says that if there is not enough gas the aircon won't kick in at all? It's all French to me.

Take it to Kwik Fit. If they cannot make your aircon cooler, then you dont pay a penny. Get them to recharge the system, if it works, pay them. If it doesnt, what they did is free and eliminates the issue of there being a need for a recharge.

OK, update!

Car is with VW Huddersfield today for an air conditioning service. The service was carried out but after this they found it was still not working and that is was the compressor that had gone. As my car is an 06 is it out of warranty, however VW have offered to pay for 100% of the cost of parts, and 50% of the labour costs. So it's costing me £168, plus the £75 service fee.

I'm guessing they have had lots of problems with compressors?

Incidentally, I've never seen a VW garage with so many GTis and R32s. They must have had around 13 or 14 on the forecourt.
