Best panel filter for ed30?

Been looking at a few panel filters for my ed30 and not really to sure what to go for
What would you lot recommend?

Green Cotton panel filter, for the oem housing.Pretty much no bhp gains but will aid air flow.

I had a VWR panel filter in my old GTI and received no gains whatsoever, so in my honest opinion save the cash and put it towards a proper intake

OEM one is fine, not really worth upgrading it. As above, I'd save for a proper intake.

I got noticeable increase in throttle response with a K&N panel and +7bhp on the dyno. Increased air flow was noted by the tuner (R-Tech) also. Well worth it for £35 if your not after a loud intake 

When I took it off, car was noticeably more sluggish also

2nd.... stick to the OEM filter and change it every 10K miles.

You're the first person in the history of mankind to get a gain let alone one not far off something like an EVOMS  

Did you try a new OEM one first? Or did someone stick the temp sensor for the Dyno in a cup of tea?

  the OEM one was clean on. 7bhp isn't much of a gain but there was a definitive difference between the two. Throttle response was most noticeable

I'd say their rollers were 6.9 - 7 BHP optimistic.

Well im thinking of getting a stage 1 map so i might just get a proper intake to go with it now

Is it worth spending the extra cash for a forge intake or not really any point?

If your saving, then I wouldn't have one of these if your looking for the biggest bhp gains over something like evoms or ITG.

Yes it's the best looking (I have one), but you may gain roughly 10bhp over something like evoms will get you 15+

Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread but what's the filtration like on these uprated panel filter, are they just as good as a oem paper filter when it comes to filtering the the air? What would be the condition of the piston rings and cylinder bore engine in general be like after using a uprated panel filter for a number of years? Or Just the same as a engine thats been breathing through a oem one?

If your buying from a reputable supplier ie K&N, Pipercross, ITG etc, they all pride themselves on offering superior filtration to the OEM paper filter.

People have used panel filters for 300+ thousand miles in America with no problems

Arh I see cheers for that I've always wondered about the very long term engine condition when running these so i thought it was a good time to ask
