H&R Twintube Coilovers
« on: May 20, 2013, 07:48:19 pm »
Hi all, been looking for some coilovers for my  ED30 and have narrowed it down to the H&R twintubes.
Is anybody on here running them that could give me some feedback on them, how they ride and handle ect ?

Cheers Marc.

Hi Marc
I fitted H&r ultra lows at first but found that the ride was too hard for my likeing, I wanted what everyone wants, comfort with a low low looking stance. I then decided to sell them after possibly selling the car... Long story . I asked Alex at AKS tuning who recommended the H&R mono tubes, I have had these fitted about a week a ago, they feel so much better, even set half way down with plenty left the car sits really well , I can go alot lower but for me it looks right. With the ultra lows even set right at the top the car sat too low . Can send you some pictures if you require, but for me Monotubes all the way  :happy2:u

I have H&R mono-tubes on mine too.  Very pleased with them.

I don't do trackdays but i do a high road mileage - i want the car to be firmly damped but still ride comfortably due to the miles i do plus the car has to do kiddie carrying duties too.   I've had eibach + koni FSD, Weitec GT coilovers, Bilstein B16 and now H&R monotubes.   Out of those i rate the weitec and h&r the best suited to my needs.  H&R prob slightly more comfortable than the weitecs and a better construction (ie the dampers are made by bilstein and the upsidedown/monotube tech) but the weitecs were good value for the money.

2012 TSI vRS: H&R monotubes, S3 arms, H&R rARB, Neuspeed RSe07, Brembos, MFSW and a few other tweaks..  PH Blog:  http://www.pistonheads.com/members/showcar.asp?carId=191311

Hi
I fitted some twin tubes to my ed30 about 2 weeks ago, and have to say that, although my 1st set of coilovers, seem to be a fantastic kit.

I've run sports dampers and lowered springs before, and found the ride to be quite hard, the h&r's haven't made the ride much harder under normal driving, but when driving fast road, the car feels very grounded and has reduced body roll.

I've driven my mates ed30 with h&r lowering spings and found that to be a harsher ride that the twin tubes. Although he does have updated roll bars as well.

The kit is very good quality and would definitely recommend it.

I'm running the v1s which are ride height adjustable only, so can't comment on the v2s with adjustable bump and rebound and how they are when specifically tuned.

Hope this helps.
Cal
