VWR & Milltek
« on: May 22, 2013, 09:06:39 pm »
Looking at the above 2 cat-back systems. (Not looking at for a full tbe just yet  )
What's the difference between the 2? As I've read that VWR is actually made by milltek.
Looking at non-res in both, and from what I can see so far on eBay the VWR is slightly cheaper.

Dont just limit yourself to the default Miltek upgrade, there are many equal and/or better options on the market as well from the likes of Pipewerx, BCS and Blueflame  :happy2:

I had one of these on my Octavia.  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/golf-mk5-gti-3-Exhaust-Down-Pipe-High-Flow-Sports-Cat-/300361586764?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item45eef2184c

I bought it second hand off a car that had covered very high mileage, i then added another 30k to it before selling it on, and that guys is still running it with no issues 4 years later.  That says alot about the quality of it IMO.

Yeah, I've read good things about those downpipes. If I was looking into the full TBE option they wouldn't definitely be considered.

At present though I'm just looking for a cat-back for sound and looks more than power gains as I'm already running to the limit with my clutch I feel. In time I may look at the stage 2 root.  :driver:

It comes down to personal choice, I've always gone milltek as I like the note/tone it gives of. However when it came down to the de-cat, I went with pipewerx as they also enlarged the join so its 3" straight through and dint just bolt it together and let you drive off.

I have also not seen many, if any people say they have had a poblem with Milltek that they have not sorted. Just my two penny's worth.

I had a milly on my last car. And couldn't fault it at all. I'm more curious as to know how the vwr one differs to the milltek? If its made by milltek. Is it the same exhaust with just a different badge on the tip?

Thanks again all.

Thats true, ive read of alot of issues with Miltek exhausts over the last 6-7 years, but ive never heard of any bad aftersales, and thats the part that matters.  If there is an issue, they do everything they can to fix it. You also have to consider that they probably sell a much higher volume than other companies, so failures will of course be higher as a result

As far as I'm aware the back box is smaller so doesn't show so much. Also from some pics there are R logos etched into the tail pipes but in other pics they look blank.
