a quick tip for ALL MK5 OWNERS!
« on: August 07, 2009, 04:36:06 pm »
I have recently been getting a few rattles in the dash and so i decided to investigate last night. I found these two screws completley loose and ratteling. Others may be the same so go and check it only takes 30 seconds to have a look,

to remove the panel, slot your key in the hole at the bottom.  :happy2:

sorry to jump on your thread mate

- but I have a rattle in my MKV it's coming from the rear passenger side corner of the boot... it sounds like it's the parcel shelf rattling... but I have tested this by removing the parcel shelf and I still get the rattle.. any ideas what can rattle at that end of the car?!

Sorry for being stupid - but which panel are we referring to??

I also have a little rattle somewhere in the centre console - I think its the inder the tray with the bottle opener or somet, since it seems to go when I put some pressure, or somet heavy, in the tray...

Could be the rear seat catch! Try folding the rear seats down and see if the noise disappears.

also could be the rear seat belt on the plastic, try plugging them in and have a go.

The one that covers the fuse box, and then the same on the other side.  :happy2:

When I changed my MFD2 to my RNS510 I found 2 bolts behind the nav unit that where loose they held an angled brace across the back of the nav unit together,  Quite significant I would say stopped afew of the rattles I was getting.

Both my screws were loose, causing a slight rattle too. Quick 5 second fix for an annoying noise.

Two screws, where?  And does VW have a problem tightening screws?
