Ha ha yes... but not on the back of this post, I did check a couple of months ago when I saw a similar heads up  :booty:

Luck of the draw, maybe the night shift bolt tighteners were more attentive than the day shift ones

Whilst keeping an attentive ear out for odd noises last night (see below thread on cornering noise) I noticed there was an odd rattle from behind the dash, remembering this issue (and being so smug my screws weren't loose) checked them this morning and found the passenger side one was really loose and took a few turns to tighten.  Drivers side was a little loose but not enough to make a noise.

Good job Joe  :congrats:

Oh, and mine's just hit 45k so maybe thats the screw tightness expectancy  :signLOL:

When I changed my MFD2 to my RNS510 I found 2 bolts behind the nav unit that where loose they held an angled brace across the back of the nav unit together,  Quite significant I would say stopped afew of the rattles I was getting.

Darren

Thats exactly where my rattle is coming from! :happy2: If I hold the top of the stereo it dissappears.

Noises coming from the central console are a pain in the ass to remove. First of all the plastic frame could have been of better quality. Second, the screws behind the frame may come loose after a while (noises are of course amplified while on aftermarket stiff coilovers). A noise that drives me crazy comes from rubbing of the leather from the side of the seats and the plastic center console/armrest. I think I will have to put Some Alcantara there to get rid of it !

sorry to jump on your thread mate

- but I have a rattle in my MKV it's coming from the rear passenger side corner of the boot... it sounds like it's the parcel shelf rattling... but I have tested this by removing the parcel shelf and I still get the rattle.. any ideas what can rattle at that end of the car?!

Apart from the obvious stuff like something rattling in the spare wheel compartment or the CD cases in the CD changer compartment if you have one back there in addition to the parcel shelf, have you tried the grill that covers the speaker in the rear door?  I had this although it was more of a buzzing noise at certain road vibrations and the noise seemed to 'transmit' further back making me think it was the boot area.

Few areas to check at the back, firstly the rubber 'balls' at the bottom of the parcel shelf can batter against the boot trim when going over bumps etc.

Could be the rear seat back, fold it down then slam it shut.  If that doesn't work, wrap some tape around the securing lugs then close it again.  Takes up just enough play to stop any rattles - has worked for others.

Regarding to "parcel shelv" rattleing, I had the same problem, it had the mechanics baffled. In the end it was a loose break light lol, give that a check  :happy2:

(sorry if an answer has already been posted)

I'd like to check the screws in the sunroof and centre console...but need photos so I know where to look. Thanks in advance.

P.S.  If I'm getting a rattle from the door, where's the best place to start looking?
