i have more trim creak than rattle, and definately more prononuced when cold.

there's one creak which i can't quite get rid off, but comes from the passenger side knee rest
tried to tighten the bolt underneath the triangle section but no joy

Wow, this thread needs some serious bumping! I had some rattle coming from the front and was searching for a solution here. Thank God I found this thread before I started to tear my dash apart

Both sides were very loose and most of my rattle coming from front of the car is now gone!  :happy2:

However I'm still getting a very annoying rattle from the left back corner of my car. Unlike some other guy did here I put my mrs behind the wheel and threw myself in the trunk. The sound was definately coming from the rear light.

Need to take it off and see what's up. This might give me a good excuse to change to some LED rear lights. I'll try to tell the mrs that it's unfixable and if she doesnt buy that I'll just tell her I accidentally broke it  :signLOL:  :signLOL:

BIG thanks to Joe for this!!  :happy2:

Wouldn't the best fix be, to travel everywhere with the missus in the boot stopping the rattle, the cabin would then be quiet as well.

Epic thread revival.......tried to tighten my screws but I haven't got the correct star shape screwdriver attachment.

There doesnt seem much room to get a screwdriver length tool in there, what tools have you all been using?

clicky

I found this comes in useful for a lot of things with the car eg getting the head unit out.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Screw driver side missing  :surprised:

Passenger side - can't see due to parrot so taking that out later.

Regarding creak in centre top vent. I followed a thread to jam something in the small space to stop the movement.

Used a bit of cardboard wrapped in duct tape....owerked for about 300miles.....now creaking again.  :fighting:

Will have to rip it out and again and try the felt solution....

Bloody rattle took me weeks to sort.  Plastic fuse cover on drivers side was the main problem and themn there was the centre dash vent also.
Fixed both with sellotape foam stuff
