ITG help!!!!
« on: May 24, 2013, 06:32:26 pm »
Guys and girls

Fitted my ITG open induction kit a few nights back and getting on ok with it, not sure if I can live with darth vadar all the time though!

Anyway when stationary and I blip the throttle upto around 5k to show some people the noise it makes, when the revs drop back down to normal they go right down to 500rpm and engine nearly stalls then quickly jump back up to around 900rpm normal tickover, it never used to do this and I'm wondering what is happening? Obviously something to do with the kit.

Any ideas?

Will

So could need new MAF sensor? How much are these?

What's the reason?

Apparently they get dirty and when they have been on the car a while and you increase air flow they don't like it. It's not 100 % that but I bet you that's where a garage would start. There about £80 I think but it's been a while since mine was done. You can clean them but I beleive it's very tricky and doesn't always work.

X2 sound advice

It's about £5 from Maplins or Halfords. Remove the sensor from the housing, cover it in cleaner, leave it a short while to dry then try again. A lot cheaper than a new MAF.

Made my car a lot smoother after cleaning the MAF  :happy2:

If the car was ok beforehand I think I'd be checking the pipe on to the turbo to make sure its seated properly.
This sounds more like unmetered air getting in through a leak after the maf.
I'd check that when the clip has been tightened on to the turbo it hasn't ridden up on one side.
Also check maf is securely fitted, I'm pretty sure they only fit one way.

Agree with all of this. i'd be checking everything is seated 100% and cleaning the maf before shelling out for new one.

Also make sure the seal that fits between the maf and intake is fitted also.

Just spray on and leave to dry?

Don't wipe with cloth or anything no?

And you mean on the actual MAF itself don't you?,, not the electrical points lol.

Sorry for the silly questions.

Cheers again
