High preasure fuel pump problem...PLEASE HELP
« on: May 24, 2013, 09:33:13 pm »
Hello everyone,I m from Montenegro, sorry about the English....

So lets skip to the problem: When i rev the car at idle at 2700rpm,or over it starts to make a tickling sound...But when I turn the fuel pump of on the conection cable and then rev the car there is not that tickling sound. So I losed a litle the spring (i dont know how to call it) on the top (black part) of the pump i didnt removed the pump. Then the sound would start at 4000rpm at idle, that didnt disturb me...but after a few days of driving the car would lose strenght and wouldnt rev past 3000rpm.

So my mechanic removed the HPFP,and took it apart. He said that the previous ovner had done something to the pump so it didnt work well, the parts inside the pump werent original.

Today I bought a completly new pump, cam folower, and cam sensor. We replaced the old one with the new one and the tickling sound is remained the same 2700rpm at idle, and 1700rpm at driving,it is very anoying...

So my question is simple: Can i lose a little the black spring(i think that this is the regulator of the preasure) to remove the sound, because the pump is new i didnt do that without asking?

PS: the camshaft isnt the problem it is like new.
And i forgot sometimes it shows some errors p310c,p310b

I would be thankful if somebody could help me about this problem....

Almost sounds like the exhaust is blowing. Leading me to look at the cam chain tensioner.

Sounded leaky to me too. Wondering now if all crankcase venting leads are tightly connected. PCV, hpfp o-ring/mount, etc.?

Reading this forum I  found something strange, exactly about this picture......

My old hpfp was like that one on the right, and the new one was like the one on the left....So i changed that, that is marked with the red arrow on my new pump. Can that make some diference? Is it better to return it with the small hole?

The banjo fitting with the new pump is fine. I still believe it is not a high pressure issue...your codes are for the low pressure side of the system which is everything from the fuel tank up to the hpfp fitting you didn't change.

Problem solved,it was the fuel preassure regulator.

The regulator in the filter? The rail? I saw it was the rail valve releasing rail pressure, but now I question how that gave you low pressure fault codes. Was it that the high pressure could not be held causing the low to also not be held? Anybody with thoughts on how this happened?
