RNS510 Issues Please help
« on: May 22, 2013, 09:54:50 am »
So i bought my rns510 after lots of reviews, but i have a few issues.

I succesfully installed it along with the gps antenna, but my radio lead and [ohm] lead dosnt fit the rns510, as the sockets on the rns510 are too close and looks different to my old rcd radio.

Also i get hardly any bass and sounds very tiny, even with bass turned up to max playing through aux. is this due to this [ohm] lead currently not connected?

i also bought a new 32gb sd card from ebay, and copyed music onto it with my laptop, and when insterted into the rns510 it gives me a sd card error.

hopefully someone can point me in the right direction

thanks in advance

UPDATE

Used another SD card and succesffuly played music. so my question is, how do u know what sd card to buy that works, is it because the one i bought is 32gb?

I have swapped pins 2 with 3 the cd and aux grounds, and the sound has improved, but no where near as clear or bassy as if i play something from radio cd or SD card.

anybody able to help me out?

You will ned a fakra adapter for the radio. something like this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FAKRA-VW-RNS-RCD-510-310-315-radio-antenna-aerial-adapter-Seat-Skoda-Columbus-/261163682162?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3cce918972

If you have an AUX input, then I think there are 2 wires that need to be switched around

As for the memory card, it could be you are on a low firmware and need to update it to read higher capacity SDHC cards.

hope that helps

Not sure about the other issues mate but different firmware versions of the RNS accept different sizes of SD card.

1) Make sure you're running the latest firmware.
2) Double check the files are mp3/wma and not aac or other formats as these will not work.
3) The card must be formatted as FAT32 - NTFS formatted cards wont work.

thanks guys, just trying to find out my firmware version, and the version of the sd card.

any comment with the tiny and no bass from the unit, this due to this [ohm] lead not connected?

As Raz said I think there are 2 wires that need to be switched around pon the Rns510 thats causes this to happen!  :happy2:
If it's not broke, Mod it.....

the card is compatible with all devices with sd 2. or SDHC logo

so this is a HC card, so this could mean i need to update my firmware.

I have version h LED rns510

You should have the right firmware if its a H version.

Have you tried another SD card?

Is the card mucky?
Is the card in right?
Is the card locked?

Seems strange.

Did you sort the other problem?

the sd card is fine becasue i put into my laptop and put songs onto it succesfuly, is it because its s micro sd into an adapter?

and sort of, the aux now has slightly better bass by swapping pin 2 with 3. but compared to the radio and cd it is crap and still tinny. i have to turn the bass up and other right down in order to get it listenable, but its not right, and have to change all settings again when using cd and radio.

I had this prob with an sd card I brought on eBay, I tried all sorts and as you music was showing on the card but wudnt play on the rns510, I brought to 8gb cards of a better quality and they worked fine. not really much help but I just put mine down to a cheap card off eBay
