The headlight washers are expensive to fit, also the self leveling height adjuster.

Yes but they are not needed for the MOT so alot of people do not use them. As long as they are adjusted correctly you will pass!  :happy2:

Its a legal requirement. MOT is simply a road worthy test.

Alot of things are legal requirements but are they all followed.  :innocent: What I am simply saying is if you want to fit them then your car you do not need to worry about failing the MOT which alot of people do. Plus if they are correctly adjusted (which they would be) i highly doubt or have heard of anyone being stopped by the police due to them not having levelers or washers!

Maybe not. Not sure how insurance would see it though! Could blame your aftermarket headlights not having the required legal parts and so no pay out

Is it worth it?

Are they classed as aftermarket even if they are OEM?

Well I dont know how insurance stand on it but surely if the car is deemed roadworthy there is nothing they can say?
Alot of chavtastic cars have aftermarket HIDs which blind everything (and they still drive round with police not stopping them) so surely if you use VW headlights which are properly adjusted and deemed road-legal this is surely a better way?
I not really sure but I know a few people who have done this and have had not trouble and if I get some xenons i will probibly follow suit!  :drinking:

To pass an MOT levelers and washers are not needed! I am considering getting some for my golf! If they are adjusted correctly you will pass. The actual Xenon's go for around £400 on ebay! :drinking:

ANY car with xenon headlights which does NOT have automatic levelers and headlamp washers will NOT be legal - irrespective of weather you can get a dodgy MoT!!!!!

Retro-fitting Xenon bulbs into halogen headlamp housings is highly illegal, and fcuking dangerous too!!!

I suggest you strongly look at the DfT website!

HORSESH!T - they will NOT be legal.  An MoT does NOT define weather a car complies with Construction and Use Regulations Act.  Ask any competent traffic plod!

But not only are they NOT legal - they are actually highly dangerous - which is why the governments DfT have issued very strict instructions to both VOSA and ACPO.  Furthermore, if you have a prang in your car with illegal Xenons, then your insurance will be INVALID, and if the dodgy headlamps are found to be a contributory factor to the accident, not only will you be prosecuted for no insurance, you will also be prosecuted for attempted MANSLAUGHTER - and you will be on your own!

Stop buring your f.ing thick head in the sand - these are illegal and dangerous!

Exactly.  It all comes down to something called 'Type Approval'.  Look at the bottom of your pax B pillar, a black sticker will have a VIN and Type Approval - the manufacturer of the car is legally required to keep all data on the car for the lifetime of the said car - and both the plod and insurance companies/assessors can lawfully ask for the Type Approval certificate - which basically quotes the EXACT spec of the car when it left the Wolfsburg factory.  If your Type Approval is for halogens, and you have xenons fitted - you are in deep sh!t.

TT all you can do is advise people of what is or isnt legal. Your advice will just get lost if you speak to people like this.  :happy2:

Well I dont know how insurance stand on it but surely if the car is deemed roadworthy there is nothing they can say?

Just because a car may be deemed 'roadworthy' with a valid MoT - it don't make it legal - two very different issues!

Alot of chavtastic cars have aftermarket HIDs which blind everything (and they still drive round with police not stopping them)

But if you manage to drive past a plod at 90mph and not get nicked - still doesn't make driving at 90 legal!

so surely if you use VW headlights which are properly adjusted and deemed road-legal this is surely a better way?
I not really sure but I know a few people who have done this and have had not trouble and if I get some xenons i will probibly follow suit!  :drinking:

But they won't be legal

:congrats: Horsesh*t all you you like  :booty:
im not burying my f*cking head in the sand so how about you give your advice with less of the im a dick attitude!  :stupid:
If you are correct then well done but it still makes no difference to what I said. Washers and levelers are not a part of the MOT! If they are adjusted correctly you will pass! And the comment of the hids in halogen housing was to show that police will rarely stop them with these let alone correctly adjusted VW ones.
