New Pirelli GTI.
« on: May 30, 2013, 09:39:49 am »
Hi all,

Hoping to get my Pirelli GTI tomorrow - cannot wait!! Coming back to VW's after trying my hand in a Mini Coop S for two years: nice car, but no a patch on VW's IMO.

This is the spec of the Pirelli:

Winter Pack Which Includes Dual Digital Climate Control & Front Heated Seats, Cruise Control, Refrigerated Glove Box, Multi Functional Steering Wheel, Factory Rear Privacy Glass, On Board Computer, Full Electric Pack

Question:

1. Anything I should lookout for before I sign for it?
2. It has the standard Pirelli GTI stereo installed with an ipod connection in the armrest - will this also work through the controls on the steering wheel?

Thank you.

And I cannot wait!!

Welcome! I do love a Pirelli! If I had the cash and could find one in the ape I wanted I would definite buy one!

Just check the usual, service hit our, cambelt an water pump depending on age and miles

And yes your steering wheel controls will work the stereo volume etc
VCDS cable HEX-USB+CAN. New but can do the basics including coding

Hi BrookesB32!!

Finally a reply.

I got it yesterday and it is amazing. Very low mileage that I've had VAG and DVLA confirm as being authentic. I'll get some pics up of it on here when I've worked how the hell to do that.

Even though it was serviced in Sept 2012, I'm going to send it back in at the end of the month to get serviced and have the cam belt / water pump done as well - major service or minor?

Absolutely love it so far. Don't know why I stopped driving VW's now. Is good to be back.

Welcome on board!  :drinking:

Major service is probably required I imagine as your cars 4 years old. Get them to change the fuel filter as a precaution. Its not a service item and VW don't EVER change them on petrol cars but its a filter so can't hurt and only costs £20 ish for the part and its a straight forward job for them.

Absolutely not necessary but updating your cam follower, PCV and Diverter valve are all little jobs peeps can/may do as a precaution.

As for uploading pics......

Thanks for the advice on the service MC71. Will get a major service and make sure that VW do the other bits you mentioned - I'd never have thought of even asking for those other jobs tbh.

Don't really think the pictures do the car justice IMO - much better in reality!!
