as a painter theres only one way to do it and that's strip it right down, ie bumpers of , mirrors of, and bonnet, and inner arch liners from the front wings. but one thing you can't get away with is things like when refitting the bonnet, you burr the edges of the bolts that hold it on, yes you can touch them up after but theres no way round it imo properly. when i did mine recently i even removed the front doors so i could get right in the back edge of the front wings, if you don't you can leave a dry edge as they blow throught the gap, and also get overspray on the A post and alike, the water base system dosn't make it any better or worse neither, there's only water base paint (the actual colour) all water base paints have a solvent laquer over the top. theres no such thing as water base laquer.
