As said above sounds like you didn't have your engine running, all can bus friendly bulb kits of any kind need to replicate the current drawn by the original bulb, as your headlights are 55w each i would imagine in the ballast (black box) there is a resistor to pull about 4 amps times this by 2 for each head light, add the other current for running the hid's times this by 10 mins of running ie say 12 amps being pulled from the battery then the car will either start turning things off due to the battery getting to low or your battery is on its way out and can't supply 12 amps or so for 10 mins
if you had your car running then clearly this should never have happened, so if it was running did you get any bulb out warnings coming up on the dash display? as if the correct current is not being replicated on the circuit the CECM will turn off the power to each device, but as also previously stated the number plate lights have no connection to the headlights.
