AMD Essex Intake
« on: June 05, 2013, 11:21:15 pm »
After reading many posts about 'which intake', I've been set on the idea of getting the ITG for a while now. I spoke to AMD in Essex today and they were telling me about there new intake for 2.0TSFI engines. He told me they've done back to back tests between there new intake and the ITG. Overall they say there intake beats the ITG in every area. Obviously they are going to big it up and say this but I just wondered if anybody has actually got this or heard any views on it?

I wouldn't listen to AMD about anything they produce.  They told me their map would be just as good as Revo's, how badly wrong they were!!

Avoid like the plague..... last i head was that there intake had MAF scaling issues and they had to recall them.

If you want max performance then get either Evoms ITG or REVO.

I would always recommend the ITG, but I have heard the new REVO intake is better, so I guess either one will do  :happy2:

As mentioned there's been problems with their CAI's and at £350 you might as well get a tried and trusted (and properly tested) intake.

I would get the revo intake if i were you. From what i have seen that is the best. I have a VWR at the mo but will be getting the revo at some point.

As said the AMD has been recalled due to problems. On audio sport there is a back to back of the revo vs amd and revo was better.  :happy2:

Id understand that choice if you had neither, but why the swap?  Thats a very expensive way of gaining or potentially losing a couple Hp!!  Lets be fair those VWR ones are essentially ITG intakes with different letters on them and are capable of supplying enough airflow for stage 3 and stage 3+ setups!!

As for AMD, I dont trust their dyno or their sales jargon.

He tried telling me his stage 2+ cars will easily pull 300Hp, he also told me if i wanted to gain 10hp he could sell me a cat aback exhaust....I said no to both lol

For three reasons.

1. Fuel trims are much better on the revo intake. VWR/ITG had a lot of problems with getting them in tolerance. I have a revised one but still isn't as good as you would expect.
2. Revo flows more air. At stage 2+ equates to 7hp.
3. Fitment on the VWR isn't great.

Cant argue with that.  Surprised though as my ITG gave practically perfect fuel trims from what I remember, but then that did have a different maf housing to the VWR setup.

Cheers for clearing that up guys, ill be steering clear of that. I haven't really heard a bad thing about the ITG so ill definitely be sticking with my original plan. Just need to buy one now!
