Interesting theory guys, the stage 2 torque twist is what munches them this is why.....had a ttrs  in the dealership with custom prop ends cured all problems! Wasn't expensive either.

Given the choice between the RS3 and S4, id go for the S4 all day long.

Looks better IMO, seems to break less often, and similar performance outputs when mapped.

I've had one for over 10 Months  & one of the best everyday useable Cars I've owned (and my list is quite long) Was thinking of going for a remap couple of months back but held off and glad I did as Engine went pop beginning of March Audi Customer service were great and it now has a Complete new Engine in although there have been a few horror stories Audi seem to have dealt with the problems and customers well.
Think with the problems a remap would be unwise as I believe with the ECU being difficult to program and needing to be removed a remap is always going to be detectable if anything major goes wrong even if it gets put back to standard prior to Audi looking at it.
Just took a deposit on my Car not because I don't like it anymore but just that I don't need the 5 Doors at the moment so bought a TT-RS Plus:
Think Sepang is one of the best colours to have a RS3 in if you can find one:

Whats the current max these 3.0TFSI engines are achieving?  I see there are supercharger pulley upgrades available.

All this talk of prop shafts and engine fail has put me off! Also considered a bmw 1m or s4 b7.. Whats the tuning potential on an s4 and costs? Im sure theres a lad near me who is running a b7 s4 which has taken out lambos on the strip?!

To be fair, and yes Im defending the RS3 corner, that is the only engine failure Ive heard of and there really aren't that many propshafts that have failed.  And all has been sorted under warranty.

My advice is go and drive them all and make your own mind up  :happy2:  I loved the 1M when I drove the first one around Brands, however I/we need four doors, five seats and my wife wants an auto.  The 1M feels very special, and I nearly sold my 997 that day to buy it.  The tuning potential on the B8 S4( Im sure you mean B8 and not B7), is massive, see Chris Harris's article on Pistonheads, it just looks a bit 'plain jane' for my liking, but I know that is half the attraction.

All I know, for what we want as a family, the RS3 does it all very well :happy2:

Engines and propshafts blowing up OMG
I was so up for buying one of these next year.  Also I never knew the ECU had to be removed for the remap  :scared:
The S4 is looking far more tasty at the moment
