Help with HID'S AND BATTERY
« on: June 03, 2013, 10:09:35 am »
Hi

Cars been in the garage all week.

i get it back last night to install my new HID kit

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390581231157?var=660127376093&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

all plug and play, working fine for around 10 minutes sat on the drive. but then the lights start flickering the hid's and the led number plate lights so i disconnect and turn off.

get back in my car and the car is completely dead?

any ideas what this could be ?

did you have it running whilst it was sat there, if not i presume you've flattened the battery with just the ignition  and lights on.

This. Numberplate leds and your hids won't both be linked up together (apart from the common power source), so mroe than likely be running the battery down. Maybe check your fuses aswell just for piece of mind.

As said above sounds like you didn't have your engine running, all can bus friendly bulb kits of any kind need to replicate the current drawn by the original bulb, as your headlights are 55w each i would imagine in the ballast (black box) there is a resistor to pull about 4 amps times this by 2 for each head light, add the other current for running the hid's times this by 10 mins of running ie say 12 amps being pulled from the battery then the car will either start turning things off due to the battery getting to low or your battery is on its way out and can't supply 12 amps or so for 10 mins

if you had your car running then clearly this should never have happened, so if it was running did you get any bulb out warnings coming up on the dash display? as if the correct current is not being replicated on the circuit the CECM will turn off the power to each device, but as also previously stated the number plate lights have no connection to the headlights.

thanks for the help,

still not starting!

figured it must be the battery so changed the battery and it still didn't start.

so i got a mate to plug it in and it came up saying there was an error with the 'fuel pressure regulator'

e cancelled the error and it started for 5 mins then cut out, we plugged it in again and it wouldnt let me cancel the error.

any ideas?? ive got a number for someone to come out with a proper vagcom is it worth ringing him?

thanks again

Maybe you caught and damaged the sensor on top of the fuel pump?
