Actually, Jonny, if you prefer to keep a thread protected from meandering bods like me, you can always lock it and open up another discussion thread in another area of the site - Plus a link in it to the locked Read-Only topic.

Hope This Helps (HTH)

Honestly mate im not bothered about people talking on the thread, and I like to hear opinions from everyone, thats why I posted the thread in the first place

Just makes it a bit tricky to spot the updates thats all..

Jonny, what state of tune are you looking at for the meet at Pod (1st Feb)? Should be a seriously quick motor when finished..
DSG works well with the power doesn't it, just no dip in power at all, I love it...

Hey mate..

Should be running all of the K04 bolt on parts by then, so full 3" cat less exhaust, Intake, Intercooler upgrade (not sure what im going for at the moment) Autotech HPFP, PCV, DV, Revo stage 2+.. hopefully around the 360BHP mark..

Or maybes a GT3071R and 450bhp haha..

DSG is amazing, and would compliment a BT very very well!! That was my only complaint with the BT kit on the S3, just took half a second between gear changes to re spool the turbo..

Even if you say compare the GTI to the ED30 as a base car..

Lower compression, stronger crank, forged rods, K04 turbo.. The whole engine is different

Then the full body kit etc.. and the fact that is it a limited car, I think thats cooler, as less people are likely to do this type of thing, at the end of the day im doing all of this for my own enjoyment, and part of why I like it is to make my cars individual, and like nothing else..

Anyways, the aim with this car is to make it the fastest ED30/GTI in the UK.. So starting with an ED30 made sense..  :happy2:

jonny you may be able to solve a long term thing for me , do you know the spec of the ed30 engine ?  when i first got my car heard rumours it was an s3 engine in a de tuned state , is this true ? or whats the spec ?  cheers mate  :happy2: also are you doing the rear lower bumper in black ? i was going to do it but chickened out !! :innocent:

Yessssss...

Basically the ED30 engine and turbo is exactly the same as the S3 unit, seems there is a load of confusion over this, but it has the same lower compression pistons, forged rods, bigger map sensor, K04 turbo, stronger block, and strengthened crank..

The only difference is the map, the exhaust and the intercooler (ED30 runs the OEM GTI cooler, but sure you know that)

Hence why an ED30 produces mapped S3 power levels when remapped..

Im planning on having the Grille, rear bumper 'diffuser section' and possibly the roof done in Matte black.. Actually not the roof.. or maybes the roof.. errm

Going to have the wheels and grille stripe painted in a different colour too, should be very different!!

Yeah just the lower section mate..

Going to have it wrapped, much better option IMO, cant see any reason to paint really..

Looks nice! Standard wheels powder coated?

(can only see two of your pics)

Seems crazy to paint doesn't it..

A very good friend of mine owns a graphics company, I have worked with him for years which is another very good reason for getting it done..

Still considering having the whole car done
