Stop saying these things Jonny. I was just about over going big turbo until I saw this

Can't wait to see it go down the pod :driver:

The K04 turbo has huge potential.. I think your 100% right the way your going about modifying the car, to extract all of the available performance before jumping to the conclusion that its not quick enough.. And going big turbo etc..

By the way, had a play with an MTM TT-RS on the way back from Newcastle today..    MTM Map and Exhaust.. Around 430hp apparently.. Errrm.. See yaaaaa!! Im confident even the K04 would have walked on it.. So glad I cancelled my order now :scared: His face was a picture..

mtm rs with exhaust kick out 400hp. Think someones been inflating their figures!

The more aggressive sportec mapped RS kicks out 420 brake, and going by the independent figures I have for the sportec RS vs the Revo cupra, the sportec is the quicker car.

Nah, seemed about what I had remembered that MTM quote..

Yeah, maybes quicker than a Cupra.. Not a DSG Golf though, we all know there a fair bit faster

How are you finding traction. I struggle with 300 horses in this weather.

What would you recommend me to help with traction. I have DSG with eibach suspension at present.

Ok, if I try and use all of the power in the lower gears then there is an issue, so you drive to the level of grip that you have.. Thats the case with any car in any given condition..

The big turbo cars, although will make bigger power/torque figures than K03/4 cars are hugely progressive anyways, and what I was saying earlier about the feeling of a big capacity motor rather than a boosted 2.0L makes for a lovely package and very usable everyday (if you treat it with respect)..

Engine mounts, high quality tyres and a solid geometry set up will give you the best chances of increasing traction..  :happy2:

So you missing 4wd with this weather at all?

MTM seem to be inconsistent with their claims. Anyhow in the car review with the mtm rs vs the sportec rs, the sportec was the quicker car.

Revo k1 0-120mph in 18.2 - 0 to 60mph in 5.7
Sportec RS - 0-120mph 15.3 0 to 60mph in 4.2

Here's a challenge for you Jonny ,

Why don't you make the first super light 4X4 Edition30?
Can it be done? if so how much weight extra would there be? I'm guessing quite alot, but could you possibly make the propshaft/ drivetrain bits out of lighter material? Surely R32 drivetrain parts could work?

I remember when TC posted a thread with Dubai Phil's race car on (sorry if I got the name wrong!) It is totally stripped out! I thought it would be great as a 4wd

It would probably be cheaper to buy the new Golf R and swap the turbo

Loving this thread.

This car is a Masterpiece and  credit to you jonny :congrats:

Just out of interest roughly how much have you spent on the car (ball park not exact) to get it to this from standard?

Oh and what you doing with the KO4 Turbo?

Carl :happy2:

Hmm.. Well that would then just be an S-Tronic S3.. or DSG MK6 R which I would rather do.. I dont mind playing about with the motor etc, but 4wd conversions etc dont really do it for me.. It is possible though for sure, not a huge amount of work really either..

Probably 150kg+ for the 4wd system.. For the added traction off the line, I cant see it being any faster really with the same power so ill stick with my laggy POS turbo and out of control FWD chassis for now

Yup, I do really quite like the MK6 actually.. I would rather drop a TFSI into a MK6 GTI though and go from there..

Hmm, tough one, just quickly had a look then, and take a standard ED30 and to get it to the exact same spec as mine is now would be roughly £12k, give or take.. I know its a lot of money, but for me its worth it.. Thats still only £40k total on top of a brand new fully specced ED30 and what else can you get for that money standard, from a showroom that would be anywhere near as quick and usable as an everyday car??

K04 turbo has been sold and will be featuring on the forum soon

Revo stage 3.. You seriously wont be disappointed!!

All being well ill have the 255 R888's.. There is going to be very little heat whatever happens on the day, so really they wont make a huge amount of difference at all but the current wheels are sold so I need to run something!!
