top effort jonny

new turbo installed = cover of PVW??? they should be doing a mk5 madness issue soon enough

Just to put all of that into some numbers and give you an idea of just how fast this is going to be!..

My car at Santa Pod was running 1300KG and 360BHP so roughly 278HP/Ton

With the turbo kit and the extra weight saving I should be looking at a power to weight ratio of around 383HP/Ton with 'Stage 2' seeing just over 500HP/Ton

Jonny

I would of thought your car will weigh less than 1300kgs mate. I had my car weighed at a weigh bridge that had just been recalibrated 2 days previous (not totally bang on though I know, but gives a good idea) and it weighed 1405kgs. This was during the week whist at work and had a brimmed tank, and about 30-40 kgs of work ggear in the boot too + misc clutter in the car. Now with all that removed, + rear seats and your other bits I would of though it would have you under 1300kgs mate..

My car will be weighed at the 30-130 day on proper scales so will give you a update then.. :happy2:

I got the 1300KG from the VW Racing corner weight scales.. Interesting though.. I thought it was going to be less than that too but not according to them!

You may have a light one! haha..

For what it's worth, mine weighed 1,492 Kg on VWR's corner-weighting scales and the only weight-saving bits I have from stock are the front brakes and carbon bonnet (only approx 20 Kg total saving).

Yeah, that makes more sense.. The GTI is a hell of a lot heavier than VW say.. Even if they are quoting dry figures..

That's my daughter's fault. My previous car was a 2-door Beemer and I was going for a 3-dr GTI but she pointed out that I also needed to transport her (jailbait) friends. Actually, most of them are 18yo now and a good laugh.

So over 1500kgs for a standard GTI??? Surely not?  :surprised:
Mine is going on corner scales at the 30 - 130 event too, so be interesting to see. I shall be launching the rear seats out for this too (as most cars are doing this), so will add a few KGS (20- 30) to see what it weighs in road trim.

Does anyone know what VW list the weights as for 3 and 5-dr GTI's?

Mine was just over 1400kg's when corner-weighted by VWR... It was fairly empty at the time too - maybe about 5kgs worth of excess bits and pieces lying around.

Does anyone know what VW list the weights as for 3 and 5-dr GTI's?

GTI..

3dr - 1328KG
5dr - 1328KG
DSG 3 & 5dr - 1347KG

Edition 30..

3dr - 1357KG
5dr - 1357KG
DSG 3 & 5dr - 1376KG

All of which seem very low to me.. Interesting that the 3 and 5 door cars are listed as having the same weight.

My car weighed in at 1320KG on the VWR scales with roughly 20 litres of fuel in, hence the 1300KG weight. That is with roughly 105KG of weight saving, so I would say the standard 3 door DSG ED30 weighs around the 1400KG mark, if not a little more..

None of that really explains how RR's car is almost 1500KG! With 20KG of weight saving.. Very strange..
