No worries mate..

After driving the car a little more you really do notice the parts that have been installed up to now.. Engine mounts fantastic as usual but a big improvement in the steering feel from the anti-lift kit..

Jonny

Hmm yeah so many people rave about it! I think I need to get me one of those!!!!  :driver:

Ah, I didnt realise you had OEM Xenon units and were swapping the bulbs - I thought you were talking about a HID upgrade kit before.  I looked into this a while ago actually.  Be intersted to know where you got them and how much...  :happy2:

sweet mods  :happy2:

How do you find the VF mounts?,
Im very tempted but always put off because I think the car is harsh enough as it is, let alone with new mounts.
Does it stop engine movement completely?

Yeah it was just the bulbs that I up rated.. Wouldn't buy a car without OEM xenons..

Got the bulbs off a guy from Edition38 forums, they were brand new 8000k D2 bulbs from HIDS4U.CO.UK.. They are a load cheaper than the PIAA D2S bulbs that I was going to order, but I thought I would give these a go, only loosing a few quid if there sh*t, plus I would know how to change them once I get the PIAA bulbs..

I have been very impressed with them up to now and Ill be keeping them unless they decide to stop working  :happy2:

VF mounts are fantastic IMO, not for everyone for sure because of the increased vibrations and noise..

There is still engine movement, its a poly bush rather than the OEM mounts which use soft rubber..

So then then next question... are they as hard as I've heard to fit them?

Wondering if 6000k would be enough, I heard ther higher the k the worse they can be in rain/fog

the higher the K, after about 4300k the dimmer it gets.

4300k is your best bet

Yeah its the anti-lift kit, thats a marketing thing though really..In reality is an up rated poly bushed front wishbone mount..

....What's your opinion about also changing the poly bushes on the other side of the wishbone, please?

Suppose it would help.. But where do you stop?? You could end up chasing it all around the car..

The main reason I did it was to stop the wheel hop that the GTI suffers with so badly, did the full Vf mount kit and the lower arms and its 90% gone.. Im looking into an engine torque damper too, that would completely remove the problem, but you get a load of vibration from them, not that it bothers me though..

Suspension tomorrow all being well, hopefully its been delivered finally!!

....Indeed  - I've driven a couple of GTI's with a full set of poly bushes fitted throughout (and engine mounts).

The main reason I did it was to stop the wheel hop that the GTI suffers with so badly, did the full Vf mount kit and the lower arms and its 90% gone..

....VW Racing offer a set of engine mounts for 'fast road' for about £460 ex vat and installation.

Coming on nicely mate..  :happy2: But have to say the Turini's will look even better black IMO just like your old ones.. But i'm just not a massive fan of silver on white..
When is it getting the extra power? What software you going with, GIAC again?

Yeah I agree I do love the Turini's in black, but I want to try and stick with the silver, just so its a little different to the last few cars I have had lol..

Not 100% decided on the software at the minute, considering both GIAC and Revo really..

Hopefully have the engine running in its final spec (for now) before the end of Jan.. Ill wait until I get bored with that and then decide on a Phase two

All I can say is WOW...  very interested in how it goes.  I'll be getting an LSD and uprated clutch pack next year along with brakes and some CF body panels... thats all I need to finish my car off.  Thinking about Revo Stage 2+, but worried about the internals of the car.
