Just because I wont be able to use the larger turbo without the engine build / fuel / clutch packs so initially I would run a played with 3071r then have it upgraded to a 3076 with larger exhaust housing..

Well for a comparison Hondas in the US running similar type of power and weight, on slicks, get deep into the 10's no worries.. Thats with a manual box, some of them are in the 9's!

With proper tyres on a FWD car you can easily as good a 60 foot times as a 4wd car, but then non of the associated transmission losses or weight once your moving.. Also, FWD is more entertaining for sure!

I was thinking about that, and im trying to find out how much there is to be saved, from it.. Could be worth doing..

You'd rough guess it by measuring the thickness and working out the cm3.

So I have had a really good think about it and I have made a few decisions on how im going to attack it this time..

Stage 1 - All chassis mods / Suspension + Brakes / All of weight saving
Stage 2 - FULL engine build / Big turbo kit / DSG Clutch packs / Fueling

So rather than go big turbo right away I would do all of the chassis and weight saving stuff first, run the car in the new super light weight trim still with the stock engine / k04 turbo and see what I can do.. See if I can take some time off the 12.6 (Im confident of dropping into the 11's)

I think I would regret not doing this and seeing what's really possible from a stock turbo / engine ED30..

Once the times have bottomed out it will be time to fully build the engine & fit the big turbo etc etc.. Time to see whats really possible with the DSG!

Remember, all with pump fuel and road legal tyres!

Hmm.. Working on this one at the mo actually..

265's are going to be a little wide for a 9" wheel so im actually thinking 255's now, but thats still quite a challenge.. I think I will still need a good 20mm all round, I dont want to run huge camber to make them fit, as thats kind of defeating the point really..

Front arches shouldn't be an issue, pull them, and rolled I think we will be able to get enough, the rears may be more of a challenge..

Think ill buy the wheels and tyres, fit them to the car and then make the arches fit around the wheels/tyres.. Thats the best way I think! Fingers crossed ill be able to run them soon ish!

There's a wide arch kit for general sale over in the USA. Only issue is it is for the GTI and not the ED 30, so it would have to be "adjusted" to fit on the front and rear bumper lower sections. Also means you would be cleaving parts from the OEM arch and .......it would ADD weight!!!!
