Update..Hey all..
So had a bit of a day on the car yesterday..
First of all I took a trip to Luca's yesterday to swap the old Pole Positions back that we had done a deal on a while back.. Look good as ever, and the weight difference amazed me again when swapping them, it woke the car up just with the seat change, incredible really, but thats what loosing 50kg does!
Then on my way home dropped in at ACR yesterday to have a few bits fitted to the car.. As soon as I got there I took the rears seats out too, thats another 50kg saved! Big chunks of weight in the seats!!!
First jobs were a bit of maintenance, so new oil and filter, new OEM cam bucket and a set of Iridium plugs, all in there now, just nice to know that its all running well before I start playing again!
Ill get the DSG serviced next time, we kind of ran out of time!!
Next we got the new engine mounts on there.. VW Racing Race mounts, these are pretty much solid up top for the gear box and engine mount, and then run a solid aluminium insert for the lower subframe, so yeah, there isn't much in the way of engine movement, but I would far rather it be that way! First impressions are that they feel great, changes are back to what they used to be, all good!!
The we got the front and rear bars on. These are bars made by KW but specifically specced by VW Racing and so there much stiffer than the standard bars, they feel fantastic on the car, really tightened it all up.. Running full stiff at the rear, and soft on the front, seems nice!
Then it was time to get the Forge PCV / Catch can system on the car, I had been running this on the car previously, but it was the pre production version, some of you may have seen it on the car at GTI International last year.. Anyways, Forge have made a couple of very small changes, and also offer the can and filler neck in black now! Looks great, looks after the engine, and seriously smoothens out the torque throughout the rev range..
The last job was to fit the Forge Supersize DV, this is pretty much what we were running on the S3, so I thought I would give it a go on this car, boost reference from the inlet manifold using the Forge Boost tap, and fit the DV to the standard throttle body hose and silicone, then just made up and adapter to run the recirculation pipe..
First impressions are that this holds boost great, and the DV response is instant! So all good!!
Thats about it for now, but got lots more planned for the next couple of weeks!
