Sure - Each To Their Own and you don't want a GT Sport pretending to be a GTI.

I know what your saying, and I agree in theory.. But the MK5 is hardly a classic, maybes on a MK1 GTI..

Anyways like all these things its personal preference, I like the White stripe in the same way others like fitting every tarty add on part available under the sun.. Whatever makes you happy isn't it? :happy2:

i was going to say that.

the mk5 is an iconic car, even just from what it has come from and its stems in history with the mk1.

i would say its one of the most important, it certainly brought back the excitement of the GTi. The mk4 2.0 GTi did NOT help the GTI brand at all, and the mk5 has most certainly put it firmly back in place! ;)

WOW Jonny! I have been away for a week and the transformation in such a short time is awesome! Loving the drop, the wheels, the white stripe on the grill, the yellow fogs! I could go on and on! Really looking forward to seeing it in four months time  :happy2: :jumpmove:

Cheers mate..

Really want to get a few more bits done to finish off the exterior before christmas but not sure if im going to have time.. Think ill just wait until the new year and get it all done then  Really looking forward to seeing the changes I have in mind on the car

Anyways another quick update on the progress for ya..

I Dropped in at Revo on Wednesday to have the car mapped, thanks to Kev and Carl and big thanks to Mark!!

Obviously it has transformed the car, its running the Stage 2 map at the moment, which will allow me to have the exhaust built and fitted without worrying about a CEL on the dash.. Super smooth, progressive delivery etc etc.. Very pleased

Considering it only has the map and intake the car is extremely strong, coupled with the DSG there is zero lag between gears, feels very much like a sequential change now!! Cant wait to have the exhaust, fuel pump and intercooler done and then I can go back and upgrade to Stage 2+!! Its going to fly!!

Also removed all of the rear interior from the car, boot contents etc.. Lots of weight saved (around 50+KG) and I can certainly feel it!!

Love this car more and more each time I do something to it haha..

Is a roll-cage on your list? - In other words, having stripped out the back, do you intend to track it regularly?

....In Jonny's case obviously not for long!

Milltek told me it's not a good idea in the long term.

:xmassmiley:

Nope, they are quite heavy

Removing the rear interior parts purely for performance, dont have anyone in the rear of the car so its no inconvenience to me.. Having a carpet made to cover the shell, so it looks like this.. (less the scaffolding)

Weight saving and lightening this car is going to be a big part of the concept, my target is to remove 150KG from the car, which will make a huge difference in terms of performance..

These are the parts that are going to save the weight, some of which I have already done  :happy2:

WHEELS & TYRES
REAR SEATS
BOOT CONTENTS + REAR MATS
SUSPENSION
INTAKE
FRONT SEATS
BRAKES
BATTERY
EXHAUST
CARBON FRONT WINGS
CARBON BONNET
REMOVE BONNET INSULATION
SINGLE FRONT WIPER KIT
REAR WIPER DELETE
POLY CARBONATE REAR WINDOWS
POSSIBLY REMOVE THE AIRCON SYSTEM, PUMP, RAD, HOSES ETC ETC

Im going for a Club-Sport type of spec, dont want to strip the car out and have it a bare shell inside, need to keep a certain level of comfort, and I want it to look like it could have came like this from the factory, R26R style..

so you are running stage 2 on a stock exhaust ?

Having an exhaust made very soon, reason I went for the Stage 2 right away was so that I could have the exhaust made and fitted to my car without having a CEL up on the dash.. should be on straight after new year
