didn't MRC map a GT30 on a boggo GTI to 400bhp?
That's what Charlie was saying at SRR anyway (as Doug took the car their to have it mapped on the DD dyno)
so its possible...but not sure how long it would last on the OEM bits of the AXX / BWA motor.
Bit more chance with a ED30/S3 block with stronger bits.
But if you want to use a GT30, you really might as well have the bottom end built to make use of the turbo.
ps: JC that acceleration in 2nd / 3rd gear is f'ing mad lol. Is torque/boost limited in the lower gears at the mo?
Yeah think they made 420hp with an ATP 3071R kit..
To be honest, at the moment without the fueling solutions out there to run more than 450hp on pump fuel the stock ED30/S3 block should be fine.. Its been done over and over without problems.. Again, as im sure you know, its not the headline power figure that determines the breaking point of an engines internals, there is so so much more to it.. And all of the motor failures I have seen up to now have been down to other contributing factors..
Running out of fuel, wastegate line disconnected, excessive timing and heat, coolant loss resulting in overheating and a big end bearing ceasing up, the list goes on.. Up until now I dont think there has been one case of everything being all good with the car, and simply snapping a road due to excessive power levels..
No torque limit in the lower gears, thats just me babying it ha.. Yeah, when it gets going its crazy! And thats only at 1.2 bar boost.. Its running 1.5 now and will be running around 1.7 bar at Santa Pod (or as soon as there is enough clear road to do some logging)
When BSH were dyno testing their own GT3076R GTI they saw an increase of 120BHP increasing the boost from 1.2 bar to 1.7 so there is plenty more to come from that video
