Credit where credit is due that's all..  :happy2:

I am spending a lot on the car but I love it, and im certainly not wasting my money on the car. I made an R8 owner feel very sad on the way to dropping the car off.. (and yes he was trying because I know him lol)

Jonny

You're telling us you beat an R8?!  :surprised: :surprised:

Walked on it.. No BS, anyone that knows me knows that I dont BS about stuff like that..

I posted up something a while ago with my S3 vs. my friends 997 GT3 RS and no one believed it, even though it was plain to see..

There has been a fair few vids posted up in the past of similar high profile cars being beaten by Mk5's and S3 but no one can accept it as its only an S3. and that's a GT3 RS!!! How can it be possible type of thing lol..

Anyways ill shut up now before I get shot down lol..

I 100% believe you. I know exactly how you feel...I have my fair share of similar stories (albeit most do not involve me driving the GTI), where much more expensive and faster cars have been beaten.

Seems more than achievable to me. Jonny in his current state of tune will have roughly 280bhp/tonne, where as a R8 has 270bhp/tonne. Throw in the DSG changes over some dude that might be a bit slow on the stick, plus the fact that if the R8's are anything like the RS4, it probably won't be making the 414bhp it's stated to have anyway..
The R8 will always come past eventually at seriously high speed, but in a straight acceleration test i'd have my money on the Ed30..

Yeah I can see that Jonny. I had a run in with an R8 when I had my Eddy. My car was running 330bhp and I stuck on his back bumper for a good while and I could tell he was gunning it because I could hear the lovely note of the V8 screaming. In your current state of tune I can easily see you leaving one...god knows what it is gonna be like when you bolt a big turbo on there  :rolleye:

I definetly believe you.. its just that I am literally amazed  :happy2:  What speed did you start of in and go up to? In km/h of course...      and more importantly, how did you get all that power down on the tarmac?  Was it dry/wet and was it on a straight stretch of road?

well I agree I have never taken from any of your threads any BS, so dont worry about spilling the details here.
I assume the R8 was prob manual so wouldnt stand a chance against DSG power lol
Nice one  :happy2:

Factor in the fact that the R8 "only" has 317lbft and it becomes even clearer

Haha..The thing is, thats the reason I wont have a car like that for a long time.. M3, RS4 etc etc.. Just not enough things that you can play with on them.. I love the fact that the Golf is a great chassis with a seriously under tuned strong engine from the factory.. So so much potential!!

Performance increase per £ is huge in comparisson to say a new M3

Plus, while im still young I would much rather have a 500BHP Golf GTI than a standard M3, RS4 etc etc etc..

Yeah so am I, well I guess I will have pretty much taken the ed30 as far as you can go on the standard turbo with parts that are currently available, so its a good bench mark to see how it shapes up! Then! More powerrrrrrrrrrrrr haha..

how old are you>?
